Tactical Combat Casualty Care
The only standard of care endorsed by both the American College of Surgeons and the
National Association of EMT's for casualty management in tactical environments.
Course Description
Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) is for those personnel that may be involved in situations in which special tactics and/or immediate trauma management is required, immediate transport is not available, or austere environmental conditions exist. This course was originally developed for the military and has since been recognized as having important applications to civilians in tactical situations. TCCC benefits everyone involved in the medical support of tactical response; from the first responder with no previous medical training, to the police officer responding to a tactical situation, to the most experienced emergency medicine provider. The program offers a combination of lectures and hands-on exercises in the treatment of the trauma patient with particular emphasis on penetrating, blunt, and blast injuries in conjunction with environmental and situational concerns. The emphasis is on recognition of those injuries that pose an immediate life threat and the interventions necessary to address them. TCCC is designed to deliver the training to both operators and medical providers, either jointly or separately, allowing all responders to participate in the course simultaneously at a level of training, skill and interest for all course participants.
