I99 to Paramedic Bridge Course

As the Rocky Mountain Region's only Academic Level I Trauma Center, Denver Health is dedicated to the education of the next generation of health care professional. This course is designed for EMT Intermediate (I-99) providers that are interested in being able to provide paramedic level care. Our EMT-I to Paramedic program is a unique class for Denver Health and the State. With the assistance of many community relationships in Colorado Denver Health and Pagosa Springs EMS have been able to build a program that provides the best educational experience possible. Through a needs analysis of candidates we developed a curriculum that includes the gaps identified not only by National Registry and the State of Colorado, but within the student body as a whole. Student needs are continuously monitored so that the program can customize curriculum and clinical experience to meet the learning gaps of the individual student.

The program meets for lecture once per week for 9 hours. While we encourage students to be in the classroom, we know it is not always possible. All lectures will be conducted within the Cisco WebEx environment. With an internet connection, web cam, and a microphone students will be capable of attending lecture utilizing a completely integrated synchronous classroom environment. Lectures will also be recorded for students to review for concept reinforcement. Lab environments will be set up in remote locations based upon student census and geographic location. EMS Education will bridge the gap between the City of Denver campus and student location whenever possible. Clinicals will be conducted at Denver Health Hospital, where we can promise a rigorous, high acuity student centric learning environment that is second to none. The clinical experience can and will be individualized based on the needs of each individual student. School schedules will be published well in advance so that any need to travel can be planned and built to fit the student needs.

The Intermediate bridge program is built around a 6 month cycle of 3 classes per year.
