IV Courses

This is a 24 contact hour IV therapy course designed to meet or exceed the EMT-Basic IV Curriculum published by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment's Prehospital Care Program. The course explores the principles and techniques of IV therapy, including the discussion of fluid and electrolyte balance and the manifestations of shock. IV therapy technique is practiced both in the classroom setting and in a clinical environment.

Prerequisites:

• Minimum age of 18 and graduation from high school or possession of a GED certificate
• Enrollment at CCD
• State of Colorado EMT-B certification (bring proof on the first day of class)
• Proof of Hepatitis-B series (bring proof on the first day of class)
• Proof of current (within 3 months of class start date) TB test (bring proof on the first day of class)
