The Denver Paramedic Division’s mission is to:
- Deliver expert prehospital care to all of Denver’s residents and visitors, regardless of gender, ethnicity, or social class
- Establish and advance a national model for providing emergency medical services, rooted in research, efficiency, and evidence-based patient management strategies
- Improve patient care through ongoing professional development, as well as training and preparing the next generation of healthcare providers
- Promote a public-health model of EMS by engaging in injury prevention and public education initiatives
The Denver Paramedics are a division of the Denver Health and Hospital Authority. We provide 911 services to the 567,000 residents in the 155 sq. miles of the City and County of Denver, and respond to over 80,000 calls a year. Most calls are handled by one of 22 Advanced Life Support ambulances, staffed by two highly-trained paramedics and outfitted with lifesaving equipment and medications. Additionally, three Emergency Service Patrol vans transport public inebriates to Denver CARES for detoxification.

Through the Rita Bass Trauma and EMS Education Institute, Denver Health provides initial training for EMT-Basics and Paramedics, as well as continuing education and training for professionals. More information on training opportunities is available on the EMS Education home page.
